Abstract

Writing poems is the competence required to be controlled by students. This material is relatively easy, but the majority of junior high students in 2 Limbangan grade VII A not yet mastered. The purpose of this study were (1) Knowing the effective use of media cards rhymes in improving student skills in writing a poem, (2) Describe how learning to write poems with a rhyme card media, and (3) Knowing the behavior and student interest in learning to write poems with KD media card rhymes. The research was conducted in class VII A SMP Negeri 2 Limbangan Kendal regency of Central Java in the school year 2009/2010. Learning is implemented in this study by way of playing that is singing and playing cards rhyme. Each student received a card containing a one-sentence poem rhyme and rhyme features a single keyword. This poem card is used for match play while singing with the words rhyme in his friend’s poem card. In addition, through a game of “four-one.” After three cycles of action implemented, the thoroughness of students has increased significantly. All students (100%) finished with an average value of 80.4. Students feel relaxed and happy to follow the Indonesian language teaching. The conclusions of this study is learning to rhyme card media (effective) to improve students’ skills in writing a poem.
